Indian summer
Last weekend I drove the minivan to Ohio for Lynn. Her old favorite, Stinky, is finally on its last legs so she needed a new one.
I got to visit my cousin, Monica, and her husband, Dave. He has leukemia and has spent months going through aggressive therapy. This week he gets tested to see the results. Hopefully they will look good and he can go back to work next week.

Indian Summer at the American Royal
A week ago I traveled to Kansas City to see my brother Paul and Jeff. It was cold and dreary when I left Pittsburgh and even worse when I returned but warm and sunny in KC.
We went to the American Royal which is the largest BBQ competition in the country. It was massive, located where the stockades used to be.

I had a nice trip to St. Louis over the weekend. Friday night we had a family dinner. We had about twenty people there. I was happy my niece, Emily, was there so I could hear about her college plans and my brother, Paul, drove in to visit too. My nephew / godson, Brad, and his wife Courtney announced they are expecting in the spring. Does that make me a grand of some sort?

Earthquake
We just had an earthquake. It originated in Virginia. It was a 5.9. I am at work and heard the windows creak then felt the building sway. At first it seemed lie a big gust of wind hits a house but then it occurred to me our building should not move. It continued to sway for about ten seconds.

I have spent the summer trying to keep myself busy. I went through a difficult break up in May, even though I was the one to do the breaking up. It was still painful.
